Daniel Allas is a composer and educator based in the Los Angeles area. He's collaborated with classical music groups including the LA Philharmonic, wasteLAnd, ensemble mosaik, Peter Evans and the International Contemporary Ensemble, wild Up, and the Lydian String Quartet, among others. His music has been performed at the Green Umbrella concert series, Kalvfestivalen, Indexical, Berlin's UpToThree Festival, Tuesdays at Monk Space, Next on Grand Festival, and the So Percussion Summer Academy. He is currently lead faculty at the LA Philharmonic's Composer Fellowship Program, and a faculty member at Pasadena City College.
Daniel's recent musical work researches dream logic, unconscious musical connections, the dilation of time, and timbral degradation. His work often involves an intermedial approach, attending to the visual and theatrical elements suppressed or taken for granted within musical performance. His work as been described as "hypnotic" by the LA Times, "entrancing" by San Francisco Classical Voice, and "fearless" by Sequenza21.
